Bio

Zbigniew Jan Stępniewski

Self-taught composer (programmer by profession), born in 1976 in Warsaw (Poland), currently living in Cómpeta.

My composing talent remained deeply hidden for a long time, it was revealed only in my high school days, when my brothers and I started creating alternative music: punk, hip-hop. I was exploring the secrets of musical knowledge on my own, starting completely from scratch. I didn’t start writing my first scores with symphonic music until 2000.

My symphonic pieces have never been presented to the public. I believe that music should be played by musicians with real instruments. My pieces are about feelings and emotions that only a fellow creature can understand, so I have never decided to publish computer versions of my compositions.

Not being within my reach to involve a symphony orchestra, I have recently started composing pieces for solo piano. I was lucky, I met Elena Mota García who agreed to play my compositions. I’m happy to announce that during the Cómpeta Artwalk’22 will take place the first public performance of my classical music.
